detox-collageHappy New Year! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year’s celebration. Along with feeling positive about starting of the year, maybe you are feeling a little guilty about the over indulgences? Do not worry! Here are a few detox tips after the New Year’s celebration:

It is very very important to UP your water intake in order to detoxify your body. Our body is made up of 90%- water. Drinking enough water will help to cleanse your body and help you start your routine back quickly. It is observed that during winters, the intake of water automatically goes down. But it becomes very important to hydrate yourself with atleast 3 litres of water every day. In case you are working out, you need even more water. So it is very important to ask yourself every night before sleeping – Have you had enough water today?

New year is a time when you have already got your workout schedule designed as your new year’s resolution. Start it now….. what are you waiting for? Sweating it out helps to flush out toxins from your body built up by all the junk and alcohol consumed during the party season. Exercise helps to increase blood circulation and helps to provide the supply of oxygen to the most important organ – the Brain.

Incorporating yoga in your routine will help you get rid of toxins along with smoothening your mind, which we lack in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Alongside, it helps you build correct posture, optimizes organ functioning and builds your overall fitness levels.

Fibre helps to increase the bowel movements, thereby cleansing the body internally. This is very important as toxins build up in the large intestines and pollute our system. Try to include a lot of fruits, oats, raw vegetables in the diet to increase the consumption of fibre.

Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Indulging in junk food and alcohol flushes out the vitamins from your body. Increasing the intake of fruits by replacing them in place of snacks is a vise option to detox your body. All fresh and seasonal fruits can be added in the diet, especially the ones that have a high water content.

Curd / yoghurt is a probiotic food. It is important to balance out the levels of probiotics in the gut after the party season. This will aid in better digestion and metabolism of the cheat meals. It can be taken as a part of the meal or as a snack item with some nuts or as buttermilk.

Green tea is high on anti-oxidants like  catechins and epigallocatechins. Consuming green tea early in the morning helps to calm, soothe and relax your stomach. It will also help to relieve any headache after the party is over.
